All About The New Honda CB Hornet 160R
Honda, at the RevFest, showcased an upcoming 160cc motorcycle in the market named as the CB Hornet 160R. The new Hornet 160R is all set to take on the premium 150cc bike segment as a sportier, faster and better-looking offering positioned above the CB Unicorn 160 in the segment. The 160R is the first small engined motorcycle by honda to get the Hornet tag to it as it is used for only bikes ranging between 250cc-900cc.
The exterior of the 160R boasts an agile and muscular front look.The upright design comprises of an angular fuel tank that is flanked by air shrouds on either side and carries the Honda Wing 3D logo. The headlight cluster is a well chiseled unit and comes with a small black windscreen. Adding some flair are the brushed silver and black elements on the tank, side panels and exhaust muffler. Further, a step-up seat (no split-seat), silver finished grab rails, clear lens indicators and an X-shaped LED tail light unit. The CB Hornet 160R uses an all-digital LCD instrument cluster and is easily one of the most stylish bikes to come from the Japanese automaker in the 160cc bike segment.
As far as the heart of the bike the engine goes the 160R gets a similar single cylinder air-cooled 160cc engine shared from the CB Unicorn 160 that churns about 14.5bhp @ 8000 rpm and 14.61 Nm of peak torque. The bike comes with fatter telescopic front forks and a monoshock suspension setup at the rear, while braking performance comes from a single front and rear petal-shaped disc brakes along with Honda’s legendary Combi-Braking System (CBS).
In terms of competition the bike will compete with the likes of Yamaha FZ v2.0, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar AS150. Honda is looking forward to the launch of the 160R that would be later this year.
