2014 Kawasaki Ninja RR Mono – 250cc Sportsbike | Specs & Pics
Kawasaki unveiled a new 250cc single cylinder
sportsbike which is also known as 250SL in Indonesia. Less than a year ago
Kawasaki replaced the 250 Ninja with the 300cc twin-cylinder Ninja. The new RR
Mono, produces 28PS@9700rpm of power and 22.6Nm@8200rpm, a bit less on the
power but more on the torque as compared to the parallel twin-cylinder version.
But what’s more important is that the new Kawasaki will be much cheaper and
affordable and could strike a balance between power and value for money.
Kawasaki claims the RR Mono can do a top speed of
153kmph and weighs around 151kg (kerb weight). It is fully faired like the
Ninja300 but sports a single headlamp rather than the split headlamps which is
a trademark of the Ninja. The dimensions measure 1,935mm x 685mm x 1,075mm
(length x width x height) with 100/80-17 and 130/70-17 section tyres at the
front and rear respectively.
No confirm news about when this bike will be
launched in India. Its biggest rival the Honda CBR250R has a price advantage or
it since the CBR 250R is locally manufactured in India whereas the Ninja RR
Mono 250 would have to be brought in India via the CKD (Completely Knocked
Down) or the CBU (Completely Built Unit). The other competition for this Ninja
would be the Yamaha R25, Pulsar 400SS and KTM Duke 390 on the price front.
Ninja 300R is priced at around Rs
3.61 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai and exceeds 4 lakh once you calculate
the on-road price.
As usual with any quarter-litre bike launched in
India, its pricing plays a key part in its success. If priced aggressively
between the price band of Rs. 2-3 lakhs, it is sure to fire the sales chart for
Kawasaki in India. Watch out for this little beauty and shortlist it for your
future bike purchase list.
Will you consider this bike, if it gets launched
in India??
