Yamaha Launches YZF R25 At Rs. 2.7 Lakhs In Indonesia

The long awaited quarter-litre bike from Yamaha has been finally unveiled. Yamaha launched the YZF R25 in Indonesia at 53 million Indonesian Rupiah, which converts to INR 2.7 Lakhs approximately. The new YZF R25 will boast of a twin-cylinder liquid-cooled four-stroke 250cc engine which produces 36PS@12,000rpm of power and 22.6Nm@10,000rpm. Now that’s a very high revving bike! We are eager to get our hands on this little beast. The YZF R25 weighs a good 166kg and is not as feather-light as the R15.

The YZF R25, if launched in India, will face tough competition from Honda CBR250R, KTM 390 Duke, Suzuki Inazuma, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the DSK Hyosung GT250R. Although the 390 Duke and Ninja 300 have higher capacity engine, due to their pricing we have included them in our comparison list.

Technically the YZF R25 falls in the league of Inazuma, Ninja 300 and GT250R purely because all of them have twin cylinder engines and are priced similar in the range of 2.7 lakhs to 3.5 lakhs (all prices mentioned in this entire article are ex-showroom prices).

Power

The YZF R25 produces 36PS@12,000rpm, although the R25 revs very high at 12,000rpm the power in less compared to rival 390 DUKE which produces 43 bhp and Ninja 300 which produces 39PS. But compared with only 250cc bikes, R25 has the maximum power output way ahead of the others. The CBR250R has the least output at 26 bhp.

The torque figures are also good for the R25. It loses out obviously to the higher capacity 390 Duke and Ninja 300. The Honda CBR250R slightly edges past the R25 in terms of torque. The Inazuma, R25 and CBR250R have comparable torque.

Weight

No one matches the KTM 390 Duke when it comes to the weight but Yamaha has done a great job to keep the weight down compared to all its other rivals (the Duke being a naked bike has the weight advantage by default). The Hyosung GT250R is the heaviest amongst all at 188 Kgs.
