Honda To Build World's Largest Scooter Plant In Gujarat
In response to increasing demand in the scooter
segment in India and to maintain its stronghold in the market, Honda will build
the world’s largest scooter assembly plant in Gujarat. This plant will have the
capacity to produce 12 lakh units of scooters annually.
This is Honda’s 4th
factory in India with existing factories located at Manesar, Tapukara and
Narsapura. Honda’s most successful scooter Activa still continues to have a
significant waiting period and due to this Honda has lost potential customers
to others.
The scooter market has seen positive growth in recent
months with growth rate of 29% in the current financial year. Honda is
currently the market leader in scooters with a dominating 53% market share.
The overall two-wheeler market has seen a positive

for July month-on-month. TVS Motors posted 32.15% jump in sales and even Royal
Enfield sales went up 79.99% in July. The big fish Hero Moto Corp too posted
