Fiat Linea T-Jet Petrol Review
When Fiat Linea T-Jet was
first launched in 2013, it was the first and the only turbocharged petrol sedan
in India. And it impressed us all with its performance and capabilities. The
New Fiat Linea T-Jet 2014 aims to carry the same performance ahead. How good is
it? Let’s find out.
Design
and Styling
The new Linea gets a
major facelift on the outside and the interiors have been updated significantly. The already neat design of the Linea has been refreshed. The
Linea gets a new bumper and grille on the front. Fiat has also given it a new
set of alloys and a redesigned rear bumper, bettering its already gorgeous
looks. Linea also gets a lot of chrome detailing on the exteriors, from the
front grille to the door handles to rear rub strips, giving the car more
character.
The Linea has a fantastic
build quality. And the sound of the solid thud while closing the doors is a testimony
to this fact. The doors are heavy and well-built and the car structure feels secure
given the top-notch tank-like build quality on offer.
The interiors have been
revamped completely. The cabin feels refreshed and much better now. There is a
new center-console and the material quality feels top notch, something that is
expected of a European car. The dashboard has dual tone leather upholstery
giving it a classy and premium look. It is also very well equipped with a host
of features. Small details have been taken care of. The orange lighting on the
console and the dials look superb. The digital trip computer gives out a lot of
information, like the average and the real time fuel efficiency, average speed and distance-to-empty. The cabin feels roomy and spacious. The smart styling combination
of Linea gives it a classy and an upmarket look and feel.
Performance
Fiat Linea T-Jet, as the name
suggests gets a 1,368cc T-Jet Petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual
transmission which gives out a good 114 PS of power at 5,000 rpm and it
generates 207nm of torque at 2,200 rpm. These impressive figures match the
on-road performance as well. The Linea T-Jet is truly a driver’s delight. The
car races ahead smoothly, and even before you know it, the car reaches the
100kmph mark effortlessly thanks to its responsive and powerful engine. The
steering wheel is direct and very responsive. The car’s handling is great and
there is good grip and the car feels in control even at high speeds. The ride
quality of Linea is very good and it drives well over the pot holed roads
thanks to its suspension. Fiat claims a fuel economy of 15.7Km/L but the real time
fuel efficiency figures tell a different story, something in the range of
11-12Km/L.
