Maruti Swift Dzire Diesel Automatic Launched @ Rs 8.39 lakhs
The much awaited Maruti Swift Dzire diesel AMT also called as Auto Gear Shift (AGS) was launched in India on Thursday. Available only on the top-end ZDi diesel variant of the Dzire, it is priced at Rs 8.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price the AGS-equipped version is about Rs. 50,000 costlier than the ZDi manual which comes at Rs 7.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
R S Kalsi, Executive Director Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Auto Gear Shift, a two-pedal technology, enables customers to drive with comfort and convenience, especially in congested city conditions. This convenience is available to them at an attractive price, without any compromise on fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki introduced the AGS technology in India with Celerio and we currently offer it in Alto K10 and WagonR also. It has been very well accepted by customers. We are delighted to now offer Auto Gear Shift technology in DZire diesel as well.”
He added: “DZire, one of India’s most successful cars ever, will become even more attractive with the convenience of Auto Gear Shift technology.”
The Swift Dzire diesel automatic is claimed to return a whopping 26.59km/l, which is the same as that of the manual transmission. Maruti Suzuki DZire has been the segment leader ever since its launch, and it is the only sedan to have crossed a million unit sales mark. The company has sold a total of 11.5 lakh units of the Dzire ever since its introduction.
