Maruti Suzuki launches IGNIS at Rs 4.59 Lakhs | Detailed Report
Maruti Suzuki India Limited today launched its premium urban compact hatchback in India starting at 4.59 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Ignis is built on a new generation rigid platform embodying Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) for occupant protection.
The most amazing fact about this car is that it comes with 98.5% localisation, in coordination with the ‘Make In India’ initiative. Ignis was revealed at an enthralling dance and music concert featuring DJ Axwell amongst a gathering of many 'Millennial' or the youth as Maruti now calls them.
Ignis gets a confident stance with expressive wheel arches accentuated with clads and wheels placed at extreme corner for roomier and spacious cabin. The front has a single frame grille design with inset headlamps. The LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps with chrome inserts and 3D trapezoidal five spoke all black alloy wheels add to the design quotient.
The all new chunky looking dashboard designing combines black and ivory dual tone and the unconventional cockpit style console panel sets this urban hatchback apart. It comes equipped with an infotainment system which offers a seamless smartphone connectivity with features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link.
The boot of the Ignis is about 265 Litres which is pretty wide for easy access and comfortable handling. This Boot space can be extended with 60:40 rear split maximising the utility space. Ignis comes equipped with dual-stage Airbag, seat belts with pre-tensioners force limiter (PTFL), ABS and EBD as standard across all variants.
Ignis comes with two engine options - the petrol variant is fitted with the proven 1.2-litre VVT engine delivering power of 81 bhp @ 6000 rpm with a Torque of 113 Nm @ 4200 rpm while the diesel variant gets the power of the acclaimed 1.3-litre DDiS engine delivering power of 74 bhp @ 4000rpm with a torque of 190 Nm @ 2000rpm.
In addition, the car offers unique personalization options as well with concepts like roof-wrap, color options in ORVM’s, spoilers etc. The price of the car varies from Rs 4.59 lakhs to Rs 6.69 lakhs for the Petrol variants and from Rs 6.39 lakhs to Rs 7.80 lakhs for the Diesel variant. The Ignis would be sold via the NEXA dealerships across the country.
